Days 2 & 3

I didn't report yesterday because there wasn't much to report. Throughout the day, I began to wonder if my challenge was a bit too easy or wouldn't really produce many results. However, I do believe that the myths that we are trying to debunk can be proven (or disproven) through this small amount of time. And the real point is to create a habit. Eventually, I can see myself adding more and more crunches to the routine. But, right now, that is not the purpose.

Today, I had a 6 mile run planned but the weather cooperated and I was able to sleep in a little bit. I still got up, took a deep breath, and started in on my crunches before I prepared for my run. I did cross crunches (the kind where you cross and crunch to the opposite leg). I think it's important to throw in some different crunches throughout the week.

It's the 4th of July weekend. Enjoy with your friends and family. Thanks to all veterans who keep our independence possible. Thanks also to Nick. We miss you everyday!

DAY 1 ~ Early Alarm

5:30 a.m. Alarm rings...

Now, raise your hand if you agree with the following statement. "I do not like doing crunches in the morning!" What about, "I do not like doing crunches at all!" I know that I am not alone in feeling this way. This is exactly why I've challenged myself to simply do 30 for 30 days.

Tracy and I have already measured our waist, arms, thighs, and neck. We even jumped on the scale. I have to tell you though, we are both in training for a half-marathon so we realize that our results may not be a direct result of the challenge.

We aren't doing this challenge just for results on paper. We're trying to debunk some of the myths that I mentioned previously.

So, remember that 5:30 a .m. alarm? Yeah, it came this morning and before I even showered, I plopped down on the carpet in the second bedroom, took a deep breath, and then started crunching. 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on...all the way to 30! It was nice to just hop in the shower and know that I was already done with Day 1.

What about you? Have you challenged yourself yet? It's not too late!

Stop...and Give US 30!

I've heard it been said that it takes 30 days to create a "habit" into your routine. Well, leave it to the Horrell's to take that as a challenge! After really concentrating a great effort into our exercising routines during the past year, we've decided it's time for a challenge!

So, each month we're taking a 30 day challenge for our HEALTH! That's right...we're going to create some new habits over the next 12 months.

The unique part of all of this is that you will get 2 perspectives on the challenge throughout the month. We'll update you with shortfalls, successes, and surprising findings.

During the month of July, we have challenged each other to do 30 crunches for 30 days. Easy, right? We'll find out. I'll be doing my crunches every morning right after I wake up (before I shower). I want to fight my own myth that working out in the morning doesn't make me feel good. Tracy will be doing his at various times in the day. He will also be trying to do 30 push ups each day.

So...do you have it? Are you looking for a challenge? If so, then STOP...and give me 30!

Enjoy!
